Saving Sam

We did a cooperative team activity in which the children had to work with a partner to try to save Sam (a gummy worm). Sammy got shipwrecked and landed on top of his boat with his life preserver under the boat. The children had to work together to put Sam's life preserver on him. But there was a catch--they couldn't touch Sam or his life preserver with their hands. Each partner team were given 4 paper clips as their tools. It was amazing to see how the teams worked together to solve the problem. I also loved how some children were challenged by this task, but persevered to try to get the job done.
