"Words Their Way" is a developmental spelling and phonics program that the entire second grade is using.   Words Their Way is  part of a balanced literacy plan.  Instead of memorizing lists of unconnected words, the children use a "word study" model.  It is based on learning word patterns rather than memorizing unconnected words.

Each week the children get a new word pattern to study.  We do hands-on sorting activities and also work on these same patterns on a computer website called Spelling City (see link page).
