Module 1 sets the foundation for students to master sums and differences to 100.  We work on several different strategies for solving problems.  One of the strategies is using place value to add.  This helps children understand that you can add the ones together and the tens.  Other strategies involved using number bonds to break numbers apart to make them more "friendly" (see sample below)
